Locating and Modifying Elements

In Web<ToolKit>, users can name any object inheriting from os_element() with a string key. By assigning keys to elements, Web<ToolKit> can perform find, remove, and replace operations on elements within an element group.

There are many purposes these operations can serve, including those listed here.

Categorizing and manipulating groups of information
Creating Web page templates and modifying their contents later
Placing information on a Web page in a specified order, even if the elements are not created in the necessary sequence

This chapter discusses and provides examples of the find, remove, and replace operations. The target set of elements for these operations is specified by a search depth. Two depths are defined.

Shallow -A search that considers only the top-level elements within a page or element group. This is the default.
Deep -A search that recursively considers elements in both the top-level page or element group and all sublevel element groups. These operations are depth first.
