Helper<ToolKit>

Helper<ToolKit> contains a set of helpful, nonintrusive add-on elements to enhance the C++ Standard Library, including regular expressions, helper algorithms, substrings, tokenizers, and reference counters.

This chapter provides a summary of the classes included in the Helper<ToolKit> library, and covers the benefits of using Helper<ToolKit>. This chapter uses examples to illustrate helper classes and algorithms, and includes sections covering the following topics.

Using STL with pointers to objects - Introduces the deref family of function objects, designed to adapt existing function objects for use with pointers to objects.
Reference counting - Presents the os_reference class, and demonstrates how it can provide automatic management of dynamically allocated objects.
STL helper algorithms - Discusses possible mistakes that might occur from the misuse of standard algorithms. The use of helper algorithms is explained with clear examples of the benefits achieved with the Recursion Software approach. A list of helper algorithms is also included.
